MILLCREEK, Utah, March 13, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A vehicle going through a red light caused a T-bone crash early Wednesday at 3300 South and 900 East, and sent the driver to the hospital.
Unified Police Sgt. Fausett said the accident, at about 12:25 a.m., was the “usual case” of running the light and wasn’t as serious as it could have been. The air bags deployed, but injuries were minimal.
The 48-year-old man who Fausett said ran the red light needed to be extricated from his vehicle because the two cars ended up side by side, making it impossible to open the driver’s door. Unified Fire Authority crews decided that removing the door was the simplest way to get the man out.
Fausett said there were passengers in at least one of the vehicles, but the driver who failed to stop for the light was the only person who complained of any pain and was transported to a local hospital.
Several officers responded to the scene because the crash occurred in the intersection and was blocking traffic, Fausett said.
The driver was cited for running the light.
