DAVIS COUNTY, Utah, May 17, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Utah highway patrol officer was injured early Friday while using his vehicle to stop a wrong way driver on I-15.
According to UHP investigators, Salt Lake City Dispatch put out a call of a wrong way driver on southbound I-15 near the Davis and Salt Lake County line about 2:30 a.m.
A Davis County trooper responded from the Centerville area while coordinating with Centerville Police Department to close the freeway, investigators said.
The trooper spotted the wrong way vehicle on I-15 near 2600 South in Woods Cross and was able to disable the vehicle with a modified PIT maneuver.
The driver of the wrong way vehicle was arrested for alleged DUI. Troopers say he was also charged with being an alcohol restricted driver.
The trooper who stopped the wrong way driver was transported to Lakeview Hospital with minor injuries. The suspect was also transported to Lakeview Hospital with minor injuries.
