KANE COUNTY, Utah, July 21, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials are asking the public to stay away from the area of the Strawberry Fire, which started Monday afternoon just east of Mammoth Creek Road.
“Fire managers on the #StrawberryFire ask the public to avoid the fire area and allow fire crews to keep focus on meeting containment objectives,” said a tweet from Utah Fire Info Tuesday afternoon.
A previous tweet from Utah Fire Info Tuesday morning said: “Firefighters are working to locate and suppress spot fires outside of the perimeter and making good progress on containment. Crews are on track to report formal achieved containment later today.”
The fire, which was caused by lightning, has been mapped at 43 acres, Utah Fire Info tweeted late Monday night.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday, Cedar Mountain Fire Protection District on Facebook said air operations had been halted for the night, but shot crews would be working throughout the night.
Cedar Mountain posted earlier on Facebook that its crews had been joined by the Division of Forestry and the Bureau of Land Management in fighting the fire east of Mammoth Creek Road, north of State Route 14 and northeast of Duck Creek Village.
