HURRICANE, Utah, July 25, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Hurricane City Police Department, which reported on Sunday afternoon that a missing 4-year-old boy had been found, has now revealed that the child was discovered dead in his home.
“Hurricane police were notified of a missing child, 4-year-old Kache Wallis, on July 25, 2021,” says an HCPD statement issued on Facebook at 5:10 p.m. Sunday. “Hurricane Police officers and surrounding agencies were dispatched to the area. The child was later located deceased in his home.
“The incident is currently under investigation with the Hurricane Police Department and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
“Thank you to Hurricane Valley Fire, Washington County Search & Rescue, the Sheriff’s Office, Hurricane VIPS, and to all the family, friends and members of the Hurricane community who came out to aid in the search. Our thoughts & prayers go out to the family of Kache Wallis at this difficult time.”
The news release offered no additional details in the case.
The initial Hurricane City Police statement, issued at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, reported the child had been missing since he had been tucked into bed the night before, clad in his Ninja Turtle pajamas. An update to the first post, issued about an hour later, said simply, “Update missing child has been located. Thank you everyone for your help.”
Many social media users responded, expressing joy and thanks in words or emojis, assuming the child had been found safe.
