WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 29, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A new Utah wildfire was reported Sunday, this one in Washington County.
The Oak Grove Fire was first mentioned by UtahFireInfo in a tweet issued 4:10 p.m.
“New Start: 5 engines & 1 water tender are suppressing the #OakGroveFire located in Washington Co. near the Oak Grove Campground, it is visible from I-15. It is estimated at 1 acre,” the post says. “Oak Grove Campground has successfully been evacuated. The cause is under investigation.”
A second tweet 30 minutes later offered an update:
“The #OakGroveFire is now estimated at 5 acres with active fire behavior. Air Attack and 4 SEATs (single engine air tankers) have been ordered.”
The next tweet, at 5:38 p.m., said the fire had grown:
“The #OakGroveFire has grown to 15-20 acres. The fire was human-caused, the investigation is on-going. A Type 3 IMT has been ordered to manage the incident due to increased complexity. 4 crews, 7 smoke jumpers, and a Type 3 helicopter are also responding to the wildfire.”
