PROVO, Utah, April 23, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Provo hiker who made it past the “Y” installed on the mountain behind Brigham Young University on Monday needed a little help getting back down.
Responding agencies included Provo Fire & Rescue, BYU Police, AirLife Utah and the Utah Department of Public Safety‘s Aero Bureau.
The agencies worked together “for the coordinate response for a stuck hiker on the cliff above the Y,” says a Provo F&R post issued Monday night.
“Rapid response medical and rescue climbers left early in this deployment hiking toward the area described by the stuck hiker while teams prepared for a rescue that could have easily moved from daylight to a night rescue.
“Airlife Utah’s helicopter crew located the hiker on cliffs, passed the location to the DPS Aero Bureau, who lowered a rescuer from their helicopter and hoisted the hiker to safety.”
