SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah, May 1, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Saratoga Springs woman has been booked into jail for investigation of murder after police say she shot a friend as part of a suicide pact.
Heavenly Faith Garfield, 21, is being investigated for murder and felony discharge of a firearm, both first-degree felonies.
Saratoga Springs police were dispatched at about 3:26 p.m. Tuesday to the scene where a 21-year-old woman was found deceased. Officers arrived at the residence, and found the victim with “an obvious gunshot wound to her head.”
Garfield’s father said his daughter “shot the deceased as part of a suicide pact.” He said the shooting happened at 10:45 a.m. the same day.
“While processing the crime scene, detectives found evidence of a single 9mm bullet that had been fired from a handgun that was located near the body of the deceased,” Garfield’s affidavit says.
“Detectives later made contact with a friend of the deceased. The friend was able to provide text messages he had received from the victim stating that she intended on committing suicide, but was too scared to kill herself.
“The friend told detectives that the victim had also told him that she intended to commit suicide with her friend, whom he identified as Heavenly Faith, and that one of them would kill the other, and then kill themselves.”
Gephardt Daily will have additional information as more details are released.
