Evacuations ordered as wildfire threatens structures near Virgin

VIRGIN, Utah, July 27, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Evacuations were ordered Saturday evening due to a new wildfire burning northeast of Virgin in Washington County.

The Kolob Fire has burned an estimated 300 acres and is threatening structures, leading to evacuations for the area of Kolob Terrace Road to state Route 9, state wildfire officials said.

Kolob Terrace road also is closed in the area due to the wildfire. The public is asked to avoid the area while air and ground crews battle the fire.

The fire is human caused and 0% contained, officials said.
