OGDEN, Utah, Sept. 23, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 30-year-old Ogden man has been jailed without bail after allegedly attacking a neighbor just before 6 a.m. Monday.

Wyatt Austen Kinne was arrested for investigation of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony. If the case goes to trial, charges will be determined by the Weber County Attorney’s Office.

“Wyatt’s victim is a neighbor whom he asked the day before if he was a sex offender,” Kinne’s affidavit says.

“Wyatt waited outside of his victim’s house in ambush,” says the Ogden City Police statement. “As the victim opened the door he saw Wyatt’s feet on the side of the door frame and tried to shut the door. As the victim tried to shut the door Wyatt pushed the door open and shoved his way inside. As he did so he swung a sock which contained a heavy crescent wrench which hit his victim on the top of the head.

“The victim immediately began to bleed profusely from a large laceration as the male continued to push his way into the house. Once Wyatt gained entry, he and his victim began to wrestle on the floor and Wyatt got onto his victim’s back and wrapped an arm around his neck.”

The victim attempted to free himself from the arm around his neck, and “began to stab Wyatt in the face with his keys to try and get away. Wyatt suffered a few small lacerations to the side of his face,” the affidavit says.

“As he did so Wyatt’s victim began to scream for help and a nearby neighbor ran outside and drug Wyatt off of his victim and told the victim to shut the door and lock himself in to protect himself.

“Upon officers’ arrival, Wyatt was located kneeling in the driveway with his hands on top of his head. Wyatt, upon being asked what was going on, stated that he wanted his lawyer present, so no further questioning was conducted.”

The affidavit said the current alleged felony offenses were committed while Kinne was on probation or parole, or while free on bail awaiting trial on a previous felony charge.

“Wyatt has stated that he is on federal release.”

Kinne was booked into the Weber County jail and was ordered held without bail.
