Body found in Logan Canyon; sheriff’s office investigating

LOGAN CANYON, Utah, Sept. 27, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Officers were still on the scene Friday night of a body found up Logan Canyon.

“The Cache County Sheriff’s Office responded to a deceased body in the Franklin Basin area of Logan Canyon,” the agency said in a 4 p.m. press release. “The body was discovered by a citizen who was walking in the area.”

The Franklin Basin parking lot area will be closed until investigators working the scene are finished there, the sheriff’s office said. “There is no evidence at this point to believe the public is in any danger.”

As details emerge, the online post said, further information will be released. Franklin Basin is located roughly 25 miles up the canyon, northeast of the canyon mouth just east of Logan. 

The body was discovered earlier in the afternoon and investigators were still on scene as of 7 p.m., said officials Friday night who indicated no other information was currently forthcoming.
