UHP IDs 5 victims of fatal collision in Price

PRICE, Utah, Sept. 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol has identified the victims of a fatal crash Thursday in Washington County, near Price.

The collision happened on U.S. 6 at milepost 235.

“A silver SUV was stopped on Spring Glen Road to go east on Highway 6 in Price. The silver SUV attempted to pull out into the designated acceleration lane but overshot the acceleration lane and went into lane number 1, which was occupied by a semi-truck pulling doubles. 

“The semi-truck attempted evasive maneuvers and lost control veering to the left into westbound traffic.  The semi-truck then struck a Nissan SUV in the westbound lanes pushing it off the roadway into a rock embankment.  During the crash, another individual was driving an ATV on the westbound shoulder and was struck by the crashing semi and SUV.”

The man on the ATV died at the scene. He was Gustavo Mendoza, 35, from Helper.

The four occupants of the Nissan also died at the scene. They were Minnesota residents Sang Her, 56, Lee Thao, 38, Bee Moua, 26, and Mai Lor, 25.

The driver of the silver SUV suffered minor injuries, and was checked out at an area hospital.
