SLCPD: Pedestrian dead after driver loses control, pushes parked car into victim

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 2, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman walking on 700 East in Salt Lake City was struck and killed Wednesday morning.

The Salt Lake City Police investigation started at 11:48 a.m. when dispatch was alerted to a crash at 743 S. 700 East.

“Based on the preliminary information, the driver of a car north on 700 East lost control and hit a parked car. The impact then pushed the parked car into a woman walking on the sidewalk,” the SLCPD statement says.

“Paramedics arrived and confirmed the woman died on the scene. The name and age of the woman killed have not been confirmed at this time. The driver of the car is cooperating with the investigation.”

The Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Team and SLCPD Crime Lab technicians responded to the scene.

This crash marks the 10th traffic-related death in Salt Lake City for 2024.
