VERNAL, Utah, Oct. 19, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — An unsealed affidavit filed in the murder case of Kimberly Hyde, a Roosevelt woman whose body was found in her car in Vernal the day after she was reported missing, reveals additional details about the case.

The suspect sought by police is Henry Cito Piano Resuera Jr. He’s wanted for aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary, all first-degree felonies.

Investigators believe Resuera fled to the Philippines, his native country, while a juvenile family member has been taken into custody in connection with the case. No additional information is be released about the teenager due his age.

Hyde was reported missing on Oct. 7. A court document, filed by Vernal police, says on the day of her disappearance she traveled to Vernal with a friend to do errands. Hyde and the friend returned to Roosevelt about 2:30 p.m., and, at 2:47 p.m., she texted her husband, saying she needed to return to Vernal.

Hyde’s phone was pinged and found to be in the area of 750 S. 500 East in Vernal. Police responded the next day, and found Hyde deceased and concealed under items placed in the car’s back seat.

She had been stabbed, according to the court documents.

An acquaintance of the juvenile said the boy admitted driving Resuera to an airport due to “a family emergency.” Police believe Resuera then flew to his native Philippines, the court document says.

Vernal police obtained a search warrant for Resuera’s residence, and spoke to his wife and the juvenile, the court documents says.

During the interview, Resuera’s wife and the juvenile allegedly “admitted that Henry had disclosed to them that he had killed Kimberly Hyde. They were both able to provide details of Kimberly’s death that had not been made publicly available,” the police affidavit said.

The juvenile also allegedly told investigators that on Oct. 7, Resuera asked him to drive to Vernal and give him a ride back to Roosevelt. Instead, Resuera met up with the juvenile in Naples, who said he “observed Kimberly’s car being driven by a person he recognized” as Resuera.

The juvenile allegedly followed Resuera to the location where Kimberly’s car was found the next morning by police.

The teenager was booked into a detention center for investigation of undisclosed crimes.

A warrant was issued Tuesday, Oct. 15, for Resuera arrest, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

Gephardt Daily will have additional information as more details are released.
