IRON COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 29, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Iron County Attorney’s Office has announced the sentencing of Desmond Secody, 22, who was convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol, a third-degree felony.
It was Secody’s third conviction in less than two years, the Iron County Attorney’s Office says.
“Officers with the Cedar City Police Department pulled over Secody for littering,” the statement says. “Upon contact with Secody, officers noticed a half-empty bottle of hard liquor in the vehicle and that Secody showed signs of impairment. Also in the vehicle was a juvenile passenger.
“Secody refused field sobriety tests and refused to submit to chemical testing. After a warrant was signed and given to Secody, he took the warrant, ripped it up, and threw it in the trash. Secody also attempted to resist several times while being taken into custody.
“Secody was transported to the Iron County Jail where he had to be physically moved into a cell by officers after he refused to move and comply with further instructions.”
Secody was sentenced to up to five years in the Utah State Prison.
