PROVO, Utah, Dec. 22, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — The owners for Ford’s Locker, a family owned meat-processing business that burned on Dec. 14, have posted a note telling patrons that the business is a total loss.

“As I’m sure many of you are aware, we experienced a devastating fire at Ford’s early Tuesday morning,” the post says.

“The outpouring of love, prayers, messages, and support from this community has been overwhelming, and we are deeply grateful for it. Our hearts are heavy, but the kindness we’ve felt has meant more than we can put into words.

“We know there are many customers still waiting on wild game processing. This was a total loss fire, and all wild game that had been entrusted to us was lost,” the post says.

The Ford’s Locker post apologized to anyone who had entrusted the business with meat for processing.

“We understand how personal and heartbreaking that is for so many families, and we share in that grief. Right now, there is a great deal of uncertainty as we work through the investigation and insurance process, and we do not currently have a timeline for what the next steps will look like.”

Jeanie Atherton, Provo Fire & Rescue captain and deputy fire marshal, said multiple callers reported the fire to dispatch, and crews arrived to find flames rising an estimated 30 feet above the roof. About 21 firefighters and a battalion chief responded to the scene, she said.

The family owned business has operated in Provo for 81 years.

“This will be a long and difficult road for us,” the Ford’s Locker post says. “We kindly ask for patience and understanding as we take things one step at a time. At this moment, we don’t have answers to many of the questions being asked, but we promise to share updates as soon as we are able.”

The post asked for concerned patrons to follow the Facebook page for updates, saying owners could not keep up with the “very high volumes of phone calls.”

“This will be the primary place we communicate new information moving forward. This will help us focus on working through next steps during this difficult time.

“For those local to Utah, our sister company, Clear Creek Pet Products in Spanish Fork, is still operating and carries some of the dog treat items that were previously available at Ford’s.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your patience, compassion, and continued support during one of the hardest moments our family and business have ever faced. — The Ford Family & Crew.”
