TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, July 23, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol has released the name of a driver who died after stopping on Interstate 215 near Taylorsville after being struck by a semi-truck.
On Monday, a Hyundai Elantra was traveling east near Redwood Road then its hood became unlatched and flipped up, a UHP statement says.
“The driver of the Elantra stopped the vehicle between lanes two and three. A semi-truck traveling behind the Elantra was unable to stop and struck the rear of the Elantra.
“The driver of the Elantra sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the semi was uninjured.”
The Elantra driver who died has been identified as 28-year-old Lovine Aiulu Saili.
