PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. – October 15, 2015 — (UPI) — Dolly Parton dismissed stomach cancer rumors on her website Wednesday.
The 69-year-old country star issued a statement in response to recent reports she is hiding a cancer diagnosis. Speculation began after Don Henley revealed the singerwas hospitalized in September.
“It is true that I had kidney stones,” Parton explained. “I had them removed three weeks ago and I am doing just fine! I am back to work and last week I was at Dollywood filming parts for my new movie Coat of Many Colors … There is absolutely no truth at all that I have stomach cancer.”
The National Enquirer claimed doctors discovered “masses of scar tissue” that had to be “removed and biopsied for cancer cells” during Parton’s “secret” hospitalization. The tabloid alleged the star “has been plagued with cancer fears for years.”
Parton released her 42nd solo studio album, Blue Smoke, in January 2014, which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200. The singer’s forthcoming movie, Coat of Many Colors, dramatizes her life at age 9 in 1955, and will air on NBC in December.
