WASHINGTON, D.C., August 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Dick Gregory, one of the first stand-up comedians to break the color barrier during the civil rights era of the 1960’s has died at the age of 84.
The legendary comedian and longtime civil rights advocate died Saturday in Washington, D.C.
Word of Gregory’s passing was confirmed by his family on social media early Saturday evening.
“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and love and respectfully asks for their privacy as the grieve during this difficult time,” the message read.
