August 19, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – In an exclusive interview Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart chatted with me about their new action/ comedy “American Ultra.”
Eisenberg plays a good-hearted stoner who, unbeknownst to him, is a highly trained secret “sleeper” agent.
After being targeted for extermination, he is ‘awakened’ and must use all of his newly found skills to protect himself and his long-suffering girlfriend from government assassins.
Both Stewart and Eisenberg had to mix a lot of physical stunts with comic timing while filming “American Ultra.” The duo spoke to me about why the film is different.
“It’s a wonderful mix-up of a lot of elements you’ve seen in other movies. Like it’s a really funny movie but then there’s this incredible action element to it,” Eisenberg told me.
Stewart added, “You have these two very unassuming sweet… and kind of typical of an indy quirky movie you would see that didn’t end up exploding and imploding all at the same time.”
Along with Eisenberg and Stewart, the film also stars Bill Pullman, Connie Britton and Topher Grace.
“American Ultra” is in theaters August 21 and is rated R.
