Jan. 25 (UPI) — Oprah Winfrey said she has no plans to run for president.
The 63-year-old media mogul said in the March issue of InStyle that she doesn’t “have the DNA” for a 2020 presidential campaign.
“I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not do. And so it’s not something that interests me,” Winfrey told the magazine. “I don’t have the DNA for it.”
“I met with someone the other day who said that they would help me with a campaign. That’s not for me,” she added.
Many called for Winfrey to run for president following her speech at the Golden Globe Awards this month. Winfrey, who spoke to InStyle prior to the awards show, said her best friend Gayle King has also brought up the prospect.
“Gayle — who knows me as well as I know myself practically — has been calling me regularly and texting me things, like a woman in the airport saying, ‘When’s Oprah going to run?'” the star shared.
“So Gayle sends me these things, and then she’ll go, ‘I know, I know, I know! It wouldn’t be good for you — it would be good for everyone else,'” she said.
Winfrey previously told The Hollywood Reporter she “will never run for public office.” She said she will consequently “never have to know the answer” if she would beat President Donald Trump if he seeks a second term.
