LOS ANGELES, June 28 (UPI) — On the night rap artist and accused murderer Marion “Suge” Knight got shot seven times in a West Hollywood nightclub, rapper Chris Brown should have protected him, Knight said.

He has sued Brown, Guam-born up and coming singer Pia Mia Perez and the nightclub in connection with the 2014 shooting, NBC News reported.

Knight filed the four-page civil suit Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. It alleges that Brown and the others failed to provide adequate security at a party held at 10AK nightclub, which Brown and Pia Mia hosted.

Knight, in jail awaiting trial on murder charges, was hit with bullets in the abdomen, chest, and left forearm, TMZ reported.

In the lawsuit, Knight calls Brown a “known gang associate” who has a history of hosting parties where violence breaks out. He claims the shooting has left him with major health issues, including a blood clot.

Knight’s murder charges stem from accusations he intentionally ran down two men. He is accused of purposely running down Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan with his vehicle. He faces a murder charge for Carter’s death, attempted murder and two hit-and-run charges for the January incident.
