OGDEN, Utah, May 29, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — One person died and four others were hospitalized following an early morning house fire Friday in Ogden, according to the Ogden Fire Department.

Fire crews responded at approximately 12:09 a.m. to a reported structure fire in the 600 block of 3rd Street where 911 callers reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the home.

Residents were being evacuated by a neighbor before firefighters arrived. Upon arrival, crews were told one resident remained unaccounted for.

Firefighters conducted a primary search and interior attack, locating the missing resident and removing them from the structure. Despite those efforts, the resident died from injuries sustained in the fire.

Four other family members were transported to a local hospital in stable condition with smoke-related injuries.

The fire was contained and fully extinguished in about an hour, the press release said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ogden Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Team and the Ogden Police Department.

The fire displaced four family members. The American Red Cross was notified and is assisting the family.

According to the fire department, the home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage and remains uninhabitable pending repairs. Estimated damage was placed at $300,000.
