OGDEN, Utah, March 28, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — One child was killed and multiple others injured following a crash involving a fleeing stolen vehicle Friday night, according to an Ogden Police Department press release.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., officers located a stolen vehicle in the 2800 block of Quincy Avenue and attempted a traffic stop. Police reported the driver failed to yield and accelerated away, striking a police vehicle during the attempted stop.

The suspect vehicle continued at high speeds before colliding with another vehicle at the intersection of 31st Street and Grant Avenue, police said.

The second vehicle was occupied by two adults and six children. An 11-year-old child was ejected during the crash and sustained fatal injuries, according to police. The remaining seven occupants were transported for medical treatment, with injuries described as ranging from critical to non-life-threatening. Authorities said the full extent of those injuries is still being assessed.

Police identified the driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle as two 14-year-old males. Both were injured and taken to a hospital.

The Weber-Metro Crash Reconstruction and Scene Handling (CRASH) Team is investigating the collision. The Ogden Police Department Investigations Bureau, working with the Weber-Morgan Homicide Task Force, is also investigating the circumstances and any potential criminal offenses related to the incident.

Police said any charges will be filed once the suspects are no longer in need of medical care.

Authorities stated no identifying information is being released at this time due to the involvement of juveniles and out of respect for the victim’s family. Officials also said no additional details will be released while the investigation remains ongoing.
