SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, May 23, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 70-year-old man riding his bicycle Wednesday afternoon in South Salt Lake was struck by a car driven by a 20-year-old woman, and he suffered critical head injuries.
Spokesman Gary Keller, South Salt Lake Police Department, told Gephardt Daily that the man — who was not wearing a protective helmet — was thrown multiple feet before landing on the roadway.
The man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver was not injured, and remained on the scene, cooperating with police.
Keller said the accident happened at 4:23 p.m. Investigators will remain on the scene through rush hour, trying to reconstruct the accident so they can determine what happened.
