SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman was arrested in Salt Lake City on Saturday after she allegedly stole an Amazon package from outside an apartment, then went into another apartment in the same complex and looked through the kitchen and living room while the resident was inside.
Lalia Larue Gallyot, 45, is facing charges of second-degree felony burglary of a dwelling and class A misdemeanor mail theft, according to a probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake County.
“The A/P (accused person) was found at 400 E. 200 South with an Amazon package in her possession that was reported stolen,” the statement said. “Officers brought the victim to the scene and the victim gave a positive identification of the A/P. The victim stated the A/P had entered the apartment building at 243 S. 300 East and stole an Amazon package from an apartment.”
The suspect then entered another apartment in the same complex with the package in her possession while the resident was inside and began looking through the kitchen and living room as if she was looking for more items to take, the statement said.
“The victim stated that she saw the A/P leave her apartment, (and) continue walking through the apartment building,” the statement said. “The victim then followed the A/P out of the building and called the police.”
Based on the description and direction of travel that the victim gave, officers located the suspect. The package did not have the suspect’s name on it and she said she did not know what was in the package that was in her possession.
Gallyot was booked into Salt Lake County Jail with her bail set at $11,950.
