ALPINE, Utah, Oct. 25, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — The city of Alpine and Lone Peak Police are looking for help identifying the perpetrator after someone reprogrammed a construction sign with a vulgar, racist message.

One screen said F***, followed by a racial slur beginning with “N.” The next screen showed a name .

A resident who posted on Facebook about the flashing-light messages said it was near a church meetinghouse.

“It broke my heart instantly,” she wrote, adding that her children were in the car and also saw the vulgar message.

“No child should have to see that,” the poster wrote. “No parent should have to explain that kind of hate. Alpine City — this cannot be ignored.”

Alpine City would like to know who programmed the message on the sign.

“We received a call last night regarding an incident with a construction message board in Alpine,” the city said on social media.

“Lone Peak Police were notified, and the message was immediately disabled. The matter is under active investigation.”

“If you have any information, please contact the non-emergency dispatch number at 801-756-9800. Neither the City nor our contractor condone this type of messaging.”
