UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 18, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who allegedly stole a car in American Fork on Wednesday was arrested after a pursuit that ended with the suspect crashing into a deputy’s vehicle.

A Utah County Sheriff’s Office news release said Wednesday shortly after noon, deputies and officers from several agencies were assisting American Fork Police in the search for a suspect in an armed robbery and stolen car from their city. A deputy with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office spotted the suspect in Orem, near 1100 North, a couple of blocks east of State Street.

The deputy tried to stop the suspect, but he fled and refused to stop, the news release said. As the pursuit continued a short distance, the suspect approached another deputy involved in the search and struck his patrol car, a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe. Both cars were disabled as a result of the collision. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody by American Fork Police.

There were no injuries as a result of the crash.
