DRAPER, Utah, Feb. 18, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A group of everyday heroes sprang into action after they spotted a car that exited the I-15 and rolled onto a retention pond.
The car was traveling southbound on the I-15 at 12000 South when it swerved off the freeway for an unknown reason, trapping the male driver and female passenger, according to witnesses.
Utah Highway Patrol and Unified Fire were dispatched to the scene.
One of the rescuers, who did not want to be identified, said: “I was driving and I saw the car, it pulled out in front of me about three lanes and I saw it go into the water so I pulled over along with four or five other guys, got into the water, forced the doors open and pulled them out.
“We got the first two out pretty quick and they were both conscious. The third one didn’t look conscious when they pulled him out but someone said he was OK.
“I was just worried about the people in the car and wanted to get them out as fast as I could.”
It is unknown whether the driver and passengers were injured.
Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as it becomes available.
The female and one male passenger are stable the driver is in critical.
Did anyone get any photos or video of the rescue?
Also, any word on the driver’s condition?
