BLUFFDALE, Utah, Dec. 11, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The FAA is investigating after a helicopter crashed Wednesday afternoon in Bluffdale, officials told Gephardt Daily.

The report of a downed aircraft came in at 4:46 p.m., Sgt. N. Stidham, Saratoga Springs Police Department, told Gephardt Daily. Officials responded to the area of 14850 S. Redwood Road.

“Officers arrived quickly, and learned the pilot had been transported by a private party to an area hospital with minor injuries,” Stidman said. “It was a male pilot, 66 years old.”

Stidman said he did not know if the pilot was alone in the craft, and he did not know the make or model of the helicopter.

“Investigator handed over to FAA at this point,” he said. “It is unknown at this time if any other individuals in there.”

Stidman said the damage to the craft appeared significant, and he doubted it could be repaired, but he added that he is not a helicopter expert.
