BLUFFDALE, Utah, Dec. 31, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Herriman man has been arrested after police discovered a woman’s body in the rear of his vehicle.

Jacob Johnson, 40, whose vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven in Bluffdale, was originally approached at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday by officers who suspected he had been driving under the influence.

“While contacting the driver, the female victim was observed in the rear of the vehicle,” says Johnson’s arrest document, filed by an officer of the Herriman City Police Department.

“The driver was removed from the vehicle and detained. The victim had significant injuries and trauma that would be consistent with a homicide.”

Johnson was taken to the Saratoga Springs Police Department for questioning.

“An interview with Johnson occurred,” the affidavit says. “Post Miranda, Johnson stated his relationship with the victim as intimate partners, currently living together in Herriman. Johnson stated he was in a previous argument with the victim, stating that it was over with their relationship.

“When asked by officers if the victim had any injuries, Johnson stated physical trauma but did not elaborate any further. When asked how the victim got into the vehicle, Johnson said he put her into the vehicle.”

Johnson was booked into the Salt Lake County jail system and ordered to be held without bail.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Gephardt Daily will have additional information as details are available.
