NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Sept. 27, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 6-year-old boy who was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital late Monday afternoon after being hit by a car on U.S. 89 in North Salt Lake has died from his injuries.
NSL Police Cpl. T. J. DeCarlo said the boy was on the west side of the road and was crossing both lanes of traffic when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.
The accident occurred at about 5:35 p.m. near 870 N. U.S. 89. Cpl. DeCarlo said he believes the boy lives in an apartment complex at that location and was heading home when he darted out onto the road. The child was not in a crosswalk.
DeCarlo said the boy was flown to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
Woods Cross, Bountiful and North Salt Lake police and emergency personnel responded to the scene.
The accident is still under investigation, and no citations have been issued at this time.
