PLEASANT GROVE, Utah, July 17, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was killed and a woman critically injured in a Wednesday morning house fire in Pleasant Grove.

Fire crews were first called to the home at 614 E. 100 North at 1:55 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from a back porch area in the rear of the residence.

Pleasant Grove Fire Chief Andrew Engemann told Gephardt Daily an elderly woman with severe injuries was pulled from the house while a second person, described as a disabled man, was found in the front of the home.

“We got him out of the house and tried to revive him, but he was deceased at the scene,” Engemann said.

Two pets were also killed in the early morning blaze.

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s office and American Fork Fire Department were called in to help determine the cause of the fire, according to Engemann.

Crews from Lone Peak, Orem and American Fork joined in the firefighting effort.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
