WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Feb. 12, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A fast-moving fire forced the evacuations of dozens of residents at a West Valley City apartment complex on Sunday.
Firefighters were first called to the Aspen Wood apartments, near 4100 S. 4100 West, at about 8:40 a.m.
When they arrived, along with West Valley police, they found heavy smoke and flames pouring from one of the buildings.
Residents from at least 10 units had to be evacuated while fire crews attempted to knock down the flames.
There were no reports of injuries.
Investigators say the fire appeared to start outside one the apartments before spreading all the way to the attic area. Two apartments were heavily damaged by the flames, 3 others sustained substantial smoke and water damage.
