MIDVALE, Utah, Nov. 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — One man was injured and four families displaced in a Friday morning apartment fire in Midvale.
Unified Fire Authority Captain Tony Barker told Gephardt Daily, multiple crews were dispatched to a multi-unit complex 64 W. Inglenook Drive about 2:30 a.m.
When firefighters arrived they encountered smoke and flames coming from the door of one of the first floor units that was extending into the second floor and reaching the apartment building’s roof.
“Initial crews initiated the fire attack, with the second crews evacuating the entire 12 unit complex,” Barker said.
“Four families and eight units were impacted with the four families being displaced and one resident transported to a local area hospital.”
While Barker did not reveal the adult male’s condition, Gephardt Daily photographer Monico Garza said the victim was sitting upright and talking before being transported.
According to Barker, the source of the fire was a light inside the kitchen, which ignited clothing and the spread through the front of the apartment.
