SUNSET, Utah, Aug. 4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The victims have been identified in a Wednesday night motorcycle-car collision in Sunset.

Tate Parmer, 44 and from Layton, was driving the motorcycle and died on impact or shortly afterward. His passenger, Shannon Quintana, 40 and from Roy, died at the hospital Thursday afternoon after being flown there in critical condition from the scene. Both were wearing helmets.

The 21-year-old man driving the car, who told police he did not see the motorcycle, was unhurt.

The accident happened near 2300 N. Main Street just before 10 p.m. The car was traveling northbound on Main Street, and attempted to turn left, onto 2300 North. The motorcycle, southbound on Main, was struck in the intersection.

Early indications are that the car failed to yield right of way to the motorcycle.

The Sunset Police Department announced on Thursday that witnesses reported that two additional vehicles may have hit the victims after they were thrown into the roadway.

Two witnesses reported seeing a blue or dark-colored SUV, which may have had a bicycle rack mounted on the back. One witness said a sedan may have hit the victims as well.

Anyone who saw the SUV or sedan or has other information on the case is asked to call the Sunset Police Department at 801-825-1620.

  1. I was the very first car to come up on this accident. I saw the bodies in the road, the police officer asked me to turn around and head the other way. I did as I was told but the image is still stuck in my head.

  2. Tate Parmer was a patriot and professional. Iraq War Veteran and Bronze Star recipient. Those of us who served with him will not soon forget him.
