BREAKING NEWS: Two Southern Utah University Flight Instructors Killed In Crash Outside Cedar City

CEDAR CITY, UTAH – October 5, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Two flight instructors from Southern Utah University have been killed in a plane crash outside Cedar City.

According to a statement from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office emergency dispatchers received 911 calls around 1 p.m. Monday reporting a small plane had crashed in the Quichipa Lake area six miles west of Cedar City.

When first responders arrived they found the two flight instructors deceased.

An article posted on the SUU Facebook page confirmed the flight instructors’ deaths, saying they belonged to the university’s aviation program as part of the Upper Limit Aviation team.

SUU Provost Bradley J. Cook acknowledged the deaths, saying, “Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones. A tragedy of this nature penetrates all of us deeply.”

The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team of investigators to the crash site.
