LOGAN, Utah, May 16, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) – Homes in Cache County were evacuated Monday morning because of flooding risk and a mudslide on Canyon Road near 600 East, officials said.

Logan City tweeted at 10:45 a.m. officials were on the scene of a two-inch secondary water lateral break and resulting mudslide at Apple Drive and Preston. No injuries were reported but water came out of the pressurized water line for 10-15 minutes until the line was shut off. The first calls came in at 9:22 a.m.

Damages are minor to the homes, and ten homes were evacuated initially. By 11:40 a.m., the evacuation had been lifted for all but one home. That home has the majority of damage to its yard with mud and debris from the slide.

Officials said a similar incident could have happened anywhere in the city.

There will be a soil stability analysis and the Logan city forester will come look at some trees that may be unstable.

The canal trail is closed until further notice.
