SEVIER COUNTY, Utah, March 22, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire fighting resources from multiple cities and agencies came together Saturday to fight the Redmond Fire, which sparked along the Sevier River, north of Redmond, and grew to an estimated 100 acres.

Crews and resources arrived from Gunnison, Sterling, Levan, Salina, Aurora, Richfield, Monroe and the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management, and were coordinated by the Sevier and Sanpete County Fire wardens.

The fire started from a controlled burn that had been believed to have been out earlier in the day, but when the wind picked up and fanned the remnants of the earlier burn.

No structures were threatened as the fire was mostly within the tamaracks and sagebrush near the river, a statement from the Sevier County Sheriff‘s Office says.

State Route 256 was temporarily closed with help from Section 10 Highway Patrol troopers. As the fire crews on hand were gaining the upper hand thanks to some hard work and fortunate wind direction change, another fire was reported on State Route 28 near Yuba Reservoir.

No injuries or loss of property occurred during this fire.
