WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Aug. 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A brawl involving 30 to 50 adults and juveniles had every available police unit in West Valley City speeding toward the Burger King near 3500 S. Redwood Road early Sunday morning, all because a couple of love-struck women couldn’t have things their way.
Witnesses told Gephardt Daily the two women squared-off over the affections of a man whom they both fancied while in front of a crowd which had gathered in the B.K. parking lot and the adjacent strip mall next door.
Voices were raised.
Punches were thrown.
A call was made to 911 and within minutes West Valley City police were on scene.
Officers were attempting to calm the situation when tempers flared and dozens joined in the fray.
More voices were raised.
More punches were thrown.
Officers quickly called for help.
All available units from West Valley City and five from Unified Police responded.
Within 20 minutes the incident was under control.
Police arrested multiple suspects on a variety of charges and whisked them to the Salt Lake County Jail.
At least one person was injured in the melee. Police say he suffered a serious head laceration and ended up seeking refuge in the Burger King restroom.
No word yet on the number of suspects charged.
