DRAPER, Utah, April 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters responded to the scene of a house fire Thursday night in Draper.
Kevin Holt, Draper City Fire Department Battalion Chief, said crews were called to the scene at 9:31 p.m., and responded to 12346 S. 1700 East.
“When our crews arrived, we had smoke showing from the eaves of the home, which told us it was an attic fire,” Holt said. “We were able to make entry really quick, and locate the fire, and were able to put it out.”
Holt said residents had come home and noticed smoke. They left the premises and called for help.
The fire was small, Holt said, and was fueled by insulation, which was smoldering, he said. A water heater was nearby, he said, but it was not immediately known if that was the source of the fire.
“There’s a little bit of damage in the attic with insulation, and some of the trusses, but that’s the extent of it,” Holt said. “There’s a little bit of smoke damage, but not too bad.”
