WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, June 5, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspected drug dealer fled police in his car and on foot, running into a home Tuesday night before he was arrested.

Police as part of a joint West Valley City and Unified Police departments investigation had been following the suspect through the day when a traffic stop was attempted in the approximately 9 p.m. incident.

But the man fled from police in his vehicle, WVCPD spokeswoman Roxanne Vainuku told Gephardt Daily, then jumped out of the car in the middle of the intersection of 3500 S 4800 W, and fled to a nearby residence.

A SWAT callout then reportedly ensued after the suspect entered a random open garage, where he was arrested, never venturing into the home or having any contact with residents.

Vainuku said he was wanted on charges by both WVCPD and UPD and was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail.
