WASATCH COUNTY, Utah, June 14, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people are in critical condition after a crash between a military dump truck and a pickup truck at Strawberry Reservoir Tuesday morning, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

A news release from UHP said at approximately 07:10 a.m. a Chevrolet pickup was traveling east on State Route 40 at mile post 49.5. The 10-ton Utah National Guard dump truck was traveling north on a side road from Soldier Creek estates. There was heavy fog and low visibility in the area.

“The dump truck did not recognize the intersection approaching, hit the brakes and entered onto SR-40, where it collided with the silver Chevrolet pickup,” the UHP statement said. “The dump truck then went across SR-40 and overturned on the north side off the shoulder.”

Two soldiers with the National Guard were transported by ambulance to Heber Valley Medical Center with minor injuries. The two occupants of the pickup were flown to Intermountain Medical Central with “significant” injuries; critical but not life-threatening.
