EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah, Sept. 25, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A mother was jailed Tuesday in the death of her infant son.

“This morning at about 3:12 a.m  deputies with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office in Eagle Mountain, along with paramedics with Unified Fire Authority, responded to a home near Nolen Park on a report that a 4-month-old boy was bleeding from his ear and his head was swollen,” the sheriff’s office said online Tuesday night.

Paramedics arrived and began to treat the child and called for a medical helicopter to fly the boy to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. “While en route, the crew detoured and took the boy to Primary Children’s Hospital in Lehi because his condition was worsening.”

The baby was treated at the hospital, but his injuries were too severe and proved fatal, according to the press release.

Doctors said the boy’s injuries were not consistent with the way the mother described their cause. She was later booked into the Utah County Jail on suspicion of third-degree felony child abuse homicide.

“The mother, Raona Dorothy Mora, 32, of Eagle Mountain, is currently being held without bail.”
