WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, June 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews responded to a residential fire Saturday night and arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the back side of the home at 4206 Wendy Ave. (2925 South).

Battalion Chief Nick Dodge, West Valley City Fire Department, praised the firefighters for getting the blaze under control within 10 minutes of their arrival.

“Our crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and without too much damage,” he said.

The residence was unoccupied when the fire broke out, but the owners had been contacted and were on their way home.

Dodge said no one was injured and, to the best of his knowledge, no pets were in the building.

An investigator was heading over to determine the cause of the fire, he said.

The dollar amount of damage to the home is estimated at $10,000 to $20,000.
