SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 20, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighting and watch operations have concluded after an industrial fire Tuesday at a recycling center in Salt Lake City’s Poplar Grove neighborhood.
Officials say the fire at METtech, at 389 S. Orange St., originated in an exterior storage area. The investigation into the cause is ongoing.
“Thanks to rapid notification, effective fire suppression systems, building construction features, and the coordinated efforts of responding firefighters, crews were able to achieve a successful outcome and prevent further damage,” a Salt Lake City Fire Department statement says.
“The scene has now been released back to the property owners, and fire watch operations have concluded.
