SEVIER COUNTY, Utah, June 12, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters are battling a blaze in Sevier County.

The Clear Creek Fire, located east of Fremont Indian State Park, started about 10 a.m. Monday, June 11.

It’s location in steep and rocky terrain is making it difficult for crews to access.

Early Tuesday morning, around 2:30 a.m., “strong down-canyon winds pushed the fire to an estimated 50 acres,” according to Utah Fire Info.

“Due to the expected hot, dry winds and low relative humidity, two hand crews and two helicopters are on scene. Federal and local resources are providing assistance.”

Travel along Interstate 70 may be impacted, Utah Fire Info said.

“Please be cautious as firefighters continue to work the area and smoke may limit visibility.”
