SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – September 25, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A man who served as one of Utah’s top religious leaders met face-to-face with Pope Francis Tuesday.
Former Salt Lake Catholic Bishop John Wester, now the Archbishop of the Santa Fe Catholic Diocese, greeted the Pontiff during the midday prayer at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C. – and it is not the first time the two have met.
Just before his move to Santa Fe, then-Bishop Wester spoke one-on-one with Bill Gephardt about his past meetings with Pope Francis and the new direction of the Catholic Church.
