OGDEN, Utah, May 10, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Missing your ferret? Check Weber County Animal Services.
The agency went online Friday afternoon to post a photo of the lost critter. “This fellow was found about a month ago off Washington Boulevard. He will be serving a stray hold here through 5/17/24.
“If he is yours, please stop by and pick him up. Proof of ownership will need to be provided. Thank you!”
If the little guy isn’t claimed by the end of the stray hold, he’ll be turned over to a rescue service, said Eve-Lisa Demvol, Weber County Animal Services outreach coordinator. He has no microchip.
For those who might consider adopting the friendly ferret, it can be expensive, much more than the usual fees. As, by law, a ferret is required to have a rabies vaccination, Demvol explained, which costs $160. For dogs and cats it’s $15.
In five hours after the posting to the animal services Facebook page, the found ferret has drawn as much interest in terms of 69 icon clicks, 15 comments and 38 shares as the dogs and cats featured on the page.
The agency currently has 81 dogs and 53 cats available for adoption.
