LAYTON, Utah, Sept 8., 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Fire crews are on the scene of a natural gas leak in Layton with four homes evacuated as a precaution, officials said Friday morning.

The gas leak occurred in the area of 93 E . Phillips St. at approximately 9 a.m., Layton City officials said in a news release on Twitter.

Dominion Energy is working to repair the gas leak. The cause is not known at this time.

Fire crews have turned off utilities, and as of 11:30 a.m. the leak is controlled and the street is being reconstructed.

Layton City also has a useful reminder for homeowners dealing with gas leaks.

“Dominion quickly can stop gas leaks with special tools,” the news release said. “Contractors or homeowners should never try to stop leak. Very dangerous.”

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
