SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 31, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a suspect who entered a Salt Lake City residence and struck a victim in the head with a hatchet, albeit one that still had its plastic safety cover on, officials said.
A news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department said the aggravated assault occurred just before 10:15 p.m. Wednesday near 1100 S. 800 West.
“A man was inside his house when a male entered the home and struck the victim in the head with a hatchet,” the news release said. “The plastic safety cover was still on the hatchet at the time of the assault, but the victim still sustained a laceration to his head.”
The suspect left through the backyard of the house and was not located. The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 50 years old, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, and is bald with tattoos.
